problem

Cables are one of the most common sources of disorganization in everyday workspaces and drawers. They are usually stored loosely, which leads to tangling, knotting, and unnecessary wear over time. This not only damages the cables but also creates frustration when trying to separate them each time they are needed. In addition, identifying the correct cable becomes difficult when multiple similar-looking cords are mixed together, resulting in wasted time and inefficient storage.

solution

This cable organization kit was designed to solve these issues by providing a structured and intuitive storage system. It includes six individual winding cases, each designed to hold a single cable neatly coiled, preventing tangles and reducing physical strain on the material. Each case is assigned a different color, allowing for quick and easy visual identification. The system is completed with a larger transparent container that holds all six units together, keeping the set organized and easily accessible within drawers, backpacks, or workspaces.

The design process began with the 3D modeling of both the individual cable winding units and the main storage box. The focus was on achieving compact proportions, ease of use, and a clear system for wrapping and releasing cables without effort. Once the initial forms were defined, functional testing was carried out to refine scale and ergonomics.

To validate the design, the components were first 3D printed, allowing for rapid iteration and physical testing of fit, usability, and durability. After confirming the final geometry, silicone molds were produced from the printed prototypes. These molds enabled the casting of multiple identical pieces using resin, ensuring consistency across the set while also improving surface finish quality.

The casting process also allowed for experimentation with color variations, reinforcing the identification system of the kit. Through this workflow—combining digital modeling, prototyping, and molding—the final product evolved into a practical and scalable solution for everyday cable organization.
